The monthly visa bulletin has two charts, Final Action Dates and Dates for Filing. Your category and country of birth determine your line. EB-1 is current for many countries, while EB-2 can backlog, especially for India and China. Your priority date becomes usable when it is earlier than the cutoff in the relevant chart.
