Who is hiring, sponsorship-friendly roles
Your search is really a calendar problem. Line up start dates with your OPT window, know when the H-1B registration season opens in spring, and understand that a cap-subject hire may not begin H-1B status until October. If you are late in your OPT, cap-exempt roles and self-petition pathways give you more control over timing. How are you sequencing your search this year?
Language matters. Postings that say sponsorship is not available, or require current work authorization without future need, are usually a no. Neutral wording is worth a direct, polite question early in the process. Roles at larger firms and cap-exempt employers such as universities more often support sponsorship. Do not disqualify yourself, but do triage your time. What phrasing have you learned to read between the lines?
Before you spend hours applying, check the public record. The Department of Labor LCA disclosure data and the USCIS H-1B employer data hub show which employers filed H-1B petitions, how many, and at what wages. A company that filed dozens of petitions last year is a very different bet from one that filed zero. This beats guessing from a careers page. Which data source have you found most useful?
